Robert Moraghan

Robert Moraghan graduated BHS in 1956, the first graduating class in the school’s history.  He returned in 2006 to give an emotional speech at the Commencement Ceremony to the 50th graduating class.  Bob went on to Cortland for his BA, W.W. Post for his MA and St. John’s University for his Doctorate.

Bob has devoted his life to the betterment of children.  He was a teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, Director of Pupil Personnel Services and Superintendent of Schools.  During those years, he was widely published on issues critical to curriculum and reading. 

Bob went on to become the Director of the Educational Leadership Programs at Stony Brook University where he also teaches courses in School Law, Educational Leadership Practices, and the Research Project Seminar.

Bob’s work has been recognized in numerous successful grants he has received for his research.  In 2009 he received the NYSED/Wallace Foundation grant totaling $886,773 and then in 2012 he received a NYSED/TLQP grant totaling $750,000 to develop Educational Leaders in the high needs school districts of New York City, Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

He has mentored countless school administrators in the metropolitan area and they are the better for the wisdom he shared with them.
