YOU
HAVE ARRIVED!!!!!!!!
You are now
the senior students in
Central Blvd.
School!
WE ARE A TEAM!
Being a fifth
grader means that you will have to work harder than in fourth
grade. You will have extra responsibilities, because you are
older and can do things that younger students cannot do. Also,
you will have more fun activities too because this is your last
year in our school. It will be your
job to set a good example for the little
kids in C.B.S.
THERE IS
GOOD NEWS!!!
THERE IS
NO LONGER A NEW YORK STATE SOCIAL STUDIES TEST IN FIFTH OR EIGHTH
GRADE
However there
will still be a NYS ELA TEST and a NYS MATH Test. (By the way,
English is the only subject that is ever capilalized, because
it is a language. This is an exception as it is used here. It
is the title if a test.) On the good side the fifth grade NYS
tests are much shorter than the fourth grade NYS tests.
Fifth graders
participate in a program called Athletes Helping Athletes. Mrs.
Tierney and Mrs. Glassman will be taking over Dr. Farkas' program
where you will have an opportunity to help a teacher in a lower
grade during the second part of lunchtime. You will be the only
students that get to pick their seats when you eat lunch. It
is too early to know yet, exactly which trips you will be going
on this year. However, you will probably go to the Cradle of
Aviation, roller-skating, and on a very special trip at the
end of the year. My class usually works on a math, English,
economics, and science project which ends in our going to Burger
King.
HOWEVER,
THERE ARE TWO HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS WHICH
MUST BE COMPLETED, IF A STUDENT IS TO GO ON THIS
TRIP. IF EITHER ASSIGNMENT IS NOT ENTIRELY COMPLETED, THE STUDENT
INVOLVED WILL NOT ATTEND.
If you have any
reservations about this, please speak to me now.Doing some other
assignment will not be acceptable. Of course, it is a requirement
that we all come back wearing our crowns, because it will now
be clear that the members of our class have now become the "Royal"
members of the CBS school community.
Our class will have a Trucker Buddy and we will participate in the Newsday in Education Program.
If everybody works hard in class, you will have the opportunity to stay after school sometimes to play games both inside and outside. Only those who do their work will be invited.
Since we will
be a team we will have to work well together and show caring
for all the members on our team. You do not get to vote on this,
since I am the captain of our team. To be a good team everyone
must listen well to the captain. We will work hard together,
play together, and laugh a lot together. There
are five senses, but the sixth sense is of great importance.
The sixth sense is HUMOR!!
LET THE NEW
SCHOOL YEAR
BEGIN!
