June and Some Summer Poetry

Today's
the day
vacation starts-
it's going to be
so great!
We'll swim
and play
and laugh all day,
toss balls and roller skate.
Ride bikes
and run,
have lots of fun,
and get to stay up late!
And just in time,
before we tire
of all this summer fun,
the day will come
for us to
hear,
"Wake up! School has begun!"

How about some fun riddles? Are you ready????
I
must admit,
I have an ear,
but all the same,
I
cannot hear. (A cornstalk)
What
has two hands,
But not one arm?
Sometimes it gives you
an alarm. (A
clock)
You
can see me in the country.
You can see me in the town.
Sometimes I am
up,
And sometimes I am down.
If the sun shines very brightly,
I am
not there at all;
But everyone can see me
When the rain begins to fall.
What am I? (An umbrella)

Here is a yummy June poem:
In
the steamy month of June,
underneath the silver moon,
we can eat
vanilla
ice cream
from a silver spoon!
And even though
ice cream will melt
we'll still recall
how nice it felt
to eat it all,
though it went
too soon
underneath the silver moon
in the lovely month of
June.

Here are two science poems. One is about magnets and one is about eggs. I hope you had fun learning about those two things in our kindergarten class!
Magnet
Did you ever see a magnet,
A magnet, a magnet?
Did you ever see a magnet
Pull this way and that?
On iron and steel,
Its pull is unreal!
Did you ever see a magnet
Pull this way and that?
A magnet has action,
It's called an attraction!
Did you ever see a magnet
Pull this way and
that?
(You can sing this one to "Did You Ever See a Lassie?")

Eggs
Eggs! Egg!Open you
Who lays eggs?
Hens lay eggs.
That I knew!
Only hens?
All birds do!
Only birds?
Not true!
Fish lay eggs
And quite a few!
Birds and
fish
And insects, too!
And reptiles and
Amohibians do!
Who's in
an egg?
Someone new! Time to hatch!
Open, you
Eggs, Eggs, Eggs!
Slippery
Sam
Slippery Sam was a slippery seal!
Ans a slippery seal was he;
He slithered and slid the sandy shore
Then he slipped back into the sea.
Hermit
the Crab
Hermit the crab
Had a cute little home,
He carried on
his back
Wherever he did roam.
But one day he woke up
And his home
was too small,
So he had to go shopping
In the underwater mall.
He
found an empty shell
That comfortably would fit.
He moved right in
His new home was a hit!

Sea Shells
Sea
shell, sea shell,
Sing a song for me;
Sing about the ocean,
Tell me
about the sea.
Sea shell, sea shell,
When I hold you near,
I can hear
the ocean
Whispering in my ear.
(Think of this poem when
you are at the beach and you find a special shell!)
Sea Animals
What
do you see in the sea?
Animals moving free!
Snails and whales
Using
their tails.
seals and eels
Looking for meals.
Catfish, flatfish,
Chasing fat fish.
What do you see in the sea?
Animals moving free!

One a Penny (money poem)
One
a penny, two a penny, three a penny,
more,
Four a
penny, five a penny,
That's a nickle more.
Six a penny,
seven a penny, eight a penny,
more,
Nine a penny,
ten a penny,
that's a dime for the store!
