Homework Policy!    Classroom Rules!

 

·         It is a NYS requirement that each fifth grade student read 25 books by the end of the school year.  Please remind your student to read, read, read! All students who read 25 books will earn a “NO HOMEWORK” pass from Mrs. Yansick.  Students who continue to read past the required 25 books can earn more “NO HOMEWORK” passes, as well as Lotto tickets, and other prizes.

·         REMINDER: Extra help will be held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:45-9:15 am beginning TBA, unless Mrs. Yansick says otherwise.  All students are welcome, but please attend only as needed.  Come with specific questions!

·         Character Counts at Charles Campagne! Here are the students who have shown great character each month:

All of the students will be chosen for showing a positive character trait throughout the year.  Look for their names to be displayed in the classroom, as well as on this webpage.  Students will also receive a certificate to bring home.

·         Things to Remember About Birthdays à

  1. Students are permitted to bring in a snack and a small drink to celebrate their birthday. (All kids enjoy a small, cold water bottle)
  2. We only have approximately fifteen minutes to sing and eat, so please send in snacks that are prepared for individual servings, and ready to distribute
  3. Please remember to send in napkins with your class treat.
  4. If you will be handing out party invitations in school, please be sure that the entire class in invited.  In the case of all girl or all boy parties, all of the girls or boys in the class must be invited.  Otherwise, please hand out or mail your invites from home.

State Test Information:

·         NYS ELA Assessment:

Test dates à Grades 3-8, Wednesday, May 4 through Friday, May 6, 2011.  Specific Grade 5 dates to be announced.  Sample questions for the 5th grade Language Arts Assessment have been posted on the State Website. You can view sample tests for grades 3-8 on this site:

In addition, review packets (2-4 pages) will be sent home on Fridays to be completed over the weekend.  These packets will be counted as a homework assignment and checked in school on Monday.
