Elk’s Club Basketball Shooting Contest

2008

District Contest

JFK Middle SchoolBethpage

The Elk’s “Hoop Shoot” free throw contest boasts the largest non-commercial, coeducational sports program in America.  It is sponsored by the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks.  More than three million kids ages 8-13 participate each year.

The local Elks contest hosted by Elks Lodge #1931 (Levittown-Hicksville) was held at Bethpage Middle School, Saturday January 19th  1:30.  This program builds character while promoting integrity, hard work, quality family time and good sportsmanship.

Turn off the television and video games and GO EXERCISE !

Make good food choices and drink plenty of water.

Establish a routine.

 Set aside time each day as activity time –

 walk, jog, skate, cycle, or swim. 

 

 

 

Adults need at least 30 minutes of physical activity most days of the week;

children 60 minutes everyday or most days.

Hockey

Students have played hockey safely with foam safety sticks.

Offensive and defensive skills, passing and spreading out the court have been stressed.

 

 

Circus Arts

Students will perform different hand eye coordination and balance activities.

Spinning plates, devil sticks, juggling scarves and bean bags, stilts and pogo stick

 

Bowling

Charles Campagne’s own bowling alley.  Strikes galore.

The boys and girls loved this activity.  Cooperation and friendly competition !

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Volleyball / Newcomb

The students will practice volleyball skills: set, forearm pass, serve.

Students will perform skills by themselves, with a partner and group and also in a game setting.

The students will practice catching and throwing over the volleyball net.

Pacer Run

 

Students will perform their best fitness run on the basketball court of the gym.

Students continue to run following the series of beeps, horns, sirens.  The sounds gradually get quicker and quicker.  Students continue as long as they reach the black line by the sound.

Their scores will be recorded.  Students will receive an evaluation and notification to receive extra fitness development before school.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Scooter Fun
