The
Frog Story
Encouragement
A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit. All the other frogs gathered around the pit. When they saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead.
The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit with all of their might. the other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell down and died.
The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die. He jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the other frogs said, "Did you not hear us?" the frog explained to them that he is deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire!!
This story teaches two lessons:
1. An encouraging word to someone who is down can lift them up and help them make it through the day.
2. A destructive word to someone who is down can be what it takes to kill them. Be careful of what you say. Speak life to those who cross your path.
The power of words...it is sometimes hard to understand that an encouraging word can go such a long way. Anyone can speak words that tend to rob another of the spirit to continue in difficult.
SPECIAL IS THE INDIVIDUAL WHO WILL TAKE THE TIME TO ENCOURAGE ANOTHER!!
SOME FAVORITES QUOTES:
"WHEN A WINNER MAKES A MISTAKE, SHE SAYS, "I WAS WRONG," WHEN A LOSER MAKES A MISTAKE SHE SAYS, "IT WASN'T MY FAULT."
A WINNER SHOWS SHE'S SORRY BY MAKING UP FOR IT; A LSOER SAYS "I'M SORRY" BUT DOES THE SAME THING THE NEXT TIME.
A WINNER LISTENS; A LOSER JUST WAITS UNTIL IT'S HER TURN TO TALK.
A WINNER RESPECTS THOSE WHO ARE SUPERIOR TO HER & TRIES TO LEARN SOMETHING FROM THEM; A LOSER RESENTS THOSE WHO ARE SUPERIOR TO HER, AND TRIES TO FIND CHINKS IN HER ARMOR.
A LOSER BLAMES FAVORITISM OR POLITICS FOR HIS FAILURE; A WINNER WOULD RATHER BLAME HIMSELF THAN OTHERS--BUT HE DOESN'T WASTE MUCH TIME ON ANY KIND OF BLAME.
AN EXCELLENT ATHLETE WHO GIVES 80% EFFORT IS MEDIOCRE; A MEDIOCRE ATHLETE WHO GIVES 100% EFFORT IS EXCELLENT.
"One man practicing sportsmanship, is better than a hundred teaching it." Knute Rockne
"Don't think that you can make up for it by working twice as hard tomorrow. If you have it within your power to work twice as hard, why aren't you doing it now?" John Wooden
"I hope that my achievements in life shall be these--that I will have fought for what was right and fair, that I will have risked for that which mattered, that I will have given help to those who were in need and that I will have left the earth a better place for what I've done and who I've been." C. Hoppe
THE WILL TO WIN IS NOT NEARLY AS IMPORTANT AS THE WILL TO PREPARE TO WIN!!!!!!!!
Great works are performed not by strength, but by perseverance.
