Useful Tips
Welcome to the Bethpage UFSD Help Desk and Support Web Site!

Welcome to the Useful Tips section. Here you are going to find some very useful information. We are going to post computer related tips for your review. The tip may be based on new technologies or frequently asked questions. If you have a recommendation for a tip that you think would be useful please let us know!

Tip 1: Spell checking error screens in District E-mail
We have been notified that some teachers are receiving message boxes (error screens) when using the District E-mail system at home. These messages may appear when replying to an e-mail or when using the spell checker. The fix for this problem is very simple. You will need to clear out your Internet Explorer temporary files. This can be done by first opening Internet Explorer. Next, choose the "Tools" menu and then select "Internet Options." Under the "General" tab you will find a number of buttons. Click on both the "Delete Files" and "Clear History" buttons and then choose OK when prompted (there may also be a button labeled "Delete Cookies," click this one too). Doing so will clear out any temporary files from your computer that may affect the District E-mail from working properly.

Tip 2: Thin-client (TELEclient) Freeze or Hang Up
We have found that some elementary classroom thin-client computers have been "freezing up" from time to time. By "freezing up" we mean that the keyboard and/or mouse stop responding. This happens because of the way that the thin-client computers work, they are constantly cycling themselves. The solution to this problem is very simple. You should turn off all three of your thin-client computers at the end of each school day. This solution has been tested and worked every time. We hope that this helps you!

    Tip 3: Using web-based software
Many of you are becoming familiar with web-based software here at Bethpage Schools. A good number of products are moving to web-based solutions. New products with excellent features are becoming available over web-based platforms. There is something to keep in mind though. Web-based products can be a little different than typical software that is installed locally on your computer. When using these type of products you should keep in mind that the response time may change while in use just because of the nature of the Internet.
