Antoinette MacLeod, Bethpage High School Principal 1987-2003

Toni Mansfield was appointed JFK Middle School Principal in 1984.    She became the Principal of Bethpage High School in February 1987 and remained there until she retired in 2003.

Toni was an energetic principal who could be seen roaming the hallways in her sneakers all day long.  She is rightfully proud of the academic progress made by Bethpage during her tenure.  There was an increase in Advanced Placement courses and the number of students enrolled in them.  She was a strong believer in STEM education long before the term came into being.  She was passionate about young girls pursuing careers in the sciences.  She worked diligently with the PTA to create a welcoming atmosphere for all.  Students always knew they could talk to “Doc,” whenever they needed assistance.

Toni was involved in several community service organizations and served a term as President of the Bethpage Rotary Club.  For all her accomplishments she received the Town of Oyster Bay Woman of Distinction award.

In 1998 Toni married Vern MacLeod.  Vern attended more concerts, plays and athletic games than any spouse in Bethpage history!  Toni and Vern today split their time between Florida and Vermont.
