Having trouble with Green Globs?

Below you will find some helpful hints for optimizing your Green Globs scores.

Remember, we will be having a tournament to see who is the best at Green Globs. You will be receiving a grade based on how well you do in the tournament so do your best.

Lines

You will basically be using four types of lines:

Horizontal (y=)

Vertical (x=)

Uphill (y=mx+b, positive slope)

Downhill (y=mx+b, negative slope)

Figuring out your slope (m)

  1. Look at the line to determine if the slope is positive or negative
  2. Find two points that fall on the line
  3. count the “change in y” (rise) between the two points
  4. count the “change in x” (run) using the same two points as above
  5. put you two numbers in fractional form

(“change in y” over “change in x”)

  1. reduce the fraction and put it in for “m” in y=mx+b

Figuring out your Y-intercept (b)

1.      Find the point where the line crosses the y- axis, this is your y-intercept.

  1. Put this number in for “b”  in y=mx+b, remember to change the sign accordingly

Graphing with Green Globs

q       The goal is to hit as many globs as you can with each shot. The more you hit, the higher your score.

q       The amount of points you get is based on the following:

1 glob =1 point

2 globs = 1 + 2 points

3 globs = 1 + 2 + 4 points

4 globs = 1 +2 + 4 + 8 points and so on…

q       Look for a group of globs that are aligned nicely, this will allow you to hit as many as possible with one shot.

q       Calculate your slope and y-intercept.

q       Plug them into y=mx+b and fire away.

q       Remember, if you are unhappy with the shot, “undo” it and try again.
