of the objects you use will show up on the Common Objects Panel as
shown above.
- Here
are a few of the more common ones you will use and a brief description of
each.
Image: Places an image at the insertion point. A window appears so
that you can specify an image file.
Rollover: Prompts you to specify two image files that are used to define
a rollover. A rollover is an image that changes when the pointer moves across
it. It is usually a link so you will be given the option to add one.
Table: Places a table at the insertion point.
Note: using a table and "stretching" it across the page and making
it "invisible" is an excellent way to help organize a web site.
HR: Places a horizontal rule at the insertion point.
Layer: Creates a layer. Click the Layer button, then move the pointer
to the Document window and drag to define the size and location of a layer.
Line Break: Places a line break at the insertion point. You can also
press Shift+Enter to insert a line break.
E-mail Link: Places an e-mail link at the insertion point.
Date: Places the current date at the insertion point. A dialog box
appears in which you can specify a format for the date and indicate whether
Dreamweaver should update the date automatically every time you save the file.

Frames
- Frames
are a good way for the more advanced Dreamweaver user to organize a page.
- By
using frames you can divide up you page into different sections.
- You
can select frame types from the Object Palette Frame menu. Frames
can be adjusted in the same manner as tables by "stretching" the
frames.
- You
can adjust the properties of the frames (frame name, source file, margins,
scrolling, re-sizing, borders of individual frames within a frameset, dimensions
of the frames and the color and width of the borders between frames) by
using the Frame Inspector Window and the Properties Palette.
- To
access the Frame window (shown below) pull down the Window menu and
select Frames, click on the frame you want to set the properties
for and adjust the properties using the properties palette.
- When
saving your web page with frames, it is important that you Save All,
found in the pull down File menu. Save All will save the Frame
Set (location and frame properties) and the frames themselves.
