Cello and bass players will be responsible for broken strings on instruments they use at home only.  They are not expected to buy a set of strings ahead of time.

 

Cello and bass players are expected to take a school instrument home for home practicing.  There is no rental fee; however, the responsibility for broken strings is yours.  Violinists and violists must purchase or rent their instruments from an outside vendor.

 

Policies:         

 

  1. Be in your seat, ready to play at 9:15 AM.  If you are not in your seat when I do attendance, you will be marked late.  After 3 lates, you may be assigned detention.   
  2. No food or drink in the classroom during orchestra rehearsal.  No exceptions. 
  3. Have a pencil available at your stand.  Leave it in the folder.
  4. Use the pass if you must leave the room.  One person at a time.  Bathroom use  only.  Sign out in the notebook, including the date and time.  Print legibly.
  5. Learn your music at home, so we can have quality rehearsals in school.  This year you will be required to keep a practice log and have it signed by me.  That will be a part of your grade.
  6. You are required to come to lessons.  You are expected to learn the lesson assignments and will be graded on your performance of them. 

 


Grading:

           

Lesson attendance:             20%

Orchestra classwork:        20%

Lesson classwork:              10%

Orchestra participation     10%

Lesson assignments:          30%

Orchestra preparedness    10%

           


Lesson assignments will include scale work and a song each marking period.  Part of the grade will be based on your practice log.


                                                           

Make-up lessons will be after school on Mondays.  Please notify me ahead of time.

 

Lesson Attendance:  

1) You are expected to attend 5 lessons each marking period.

2) If you attend more than 5 lessons, you get extra credit.  Each lesson attendance is worth 4 points.  Make-up lessons are available after school on Mondays.

3) You are no longer allowed to attend another lesson group.

4) You are expected at your lesson groups each week.

5) You must demonstrate that you are learning the lesson material by performing it in class.  You will be graded on progress, skill, and effort.
