GRADING POLICY:
(25%)SCALES/RUDIMENTS - All students must perform scales(percussionists also play rudiments) each marking period.
(25%)LESSONS - Students who come to 6 lessons in a quarter get an automatic A+(100) for their lesson grade for that quarter. 5 lessons=90, 4 lessons=80, 3 lessons=70, 2 lessons=60, 1 lesson=50, ZERO lessons=F Students must remember that they are still responsible for any work that they may have missed in their regular class. This year a student may earn 10 extra points for every additional lesson attended.
(25%)SOLOS/TESTS - Students have to perform a solo each quarter(All students have been given their 4 solos for the year already). Written tests are sometimes given on scales, and rhythm dictation tests are given to evaluate students abilities to identify and write certain rhythm concepts. Students may also be asked to perform sections of one of their Band pieces.
(25%)EFFORT - A students effort is determined by how well they perform in their lessons and most importantly during each Band rehearsal; paying attention, being prepared and always being ready to play are important aspects of each rehearsal.
SCALES/RUDIMENTS, LESSONS, SOLOS/TESTS , and EFFORT are averaged to formulate a students grade for each quarter.
