Plastics Construction

The plastics industry is extremely important in today's high tech world, Computer casings, Medical supplies and many other products are plastic. Students will benefit from having an understanding of how plastics are manufactured.

During this project students will:

Learn how to shape acrylic using a seperating process on the Jigsaw or Bandsaw.
Use abrasives such as sandpaper, scrapers sanding machines and buffing wheels to obtain a clear and shiny surface
Use heat to form the acrylic to a desired shape using jigs and fixtures.
Use an engraving machine to create a name plate
Use a drill press to help fasten the pen holder to the base
Use adhesives to adhere the acrylic together.
