Exercising in the water is ideal for those just beginning a fitness program or recovering from an injury. CALLIGRAPHY : Section 1
Students will learn various calligraphy styles. Each attainable style will be introduced in an historical context and in illustrated demonstrations. We will learn how to use the tools of calligraphy and practice the styles and techniques. Following demonstrations by the instructor, you will copy alphabets and devise contemporary applications for your newfound skill to create personal pieces that relate to any goal you have in mind. Please bring a Fineliner Calligraphy Marker Micro Pen for use during the class. COLLEGE BOARD SAT REVIEW PROGRAM : Section 1
This course is designed for students who wish to raise their S.A.T. scores. Emphasis will be placed on the techniques, review and practice of actual S.A.T. tests. The course offered in the Fall Semester will prepare students for the 11/03/18 exam and the course offered in the Spring Semester will prepare students for the 5/04/19 exam. Register early! CPR / AED Recertification for Coaches : Section 1
This course is the NYS accredited update for coaches whose CPR / AED certification is set to expire. The course will review the newest American Red Cross guidelines for performing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, as well as the implementation of the Automated External Defibrillator. American Red Cross certification will be given upon successful completion of course. EMPOWER AND HEAL YOURSELF : Section 1
In this monthly class you will be given the tools to learn how to empower yourself and in turn empower others. Using mediation and the healing modality of Reiki we will gather to exchange our energy for the good of one another and in turn the universe. Learn symbols and techniques you can perform every day. Various topics will be discussed. I am an intuitive level III Reiki practitioner and have completed all course work under the Usui Reiki Programs. Let’s channel our energy for out highest and greatest good and return heal our bodies and minds. Please wear comfortable clothing. Reiki will be conducting while sitting. An open mind and heart is all that is required. Each student will receive a handout and a crystal to aid in meditation and healing. FONDANT FUNDAMENTALS : Section 1
You have been asking, so don’t miss this opportunity to learn how to cover a cake with fondant. A fondant covered cake makes a very polished presentation. In this class, you will acquire the skills to create a very special cake for your next family event! Bring one fully iced layer cake (6” or 8” round), a rolling pin, non-­-stick mat, 2 lbs. of fondant and your PATIENCE. No time to prepare a cake, no problem……. call a local bakery and order a plain iced cake or purchase a Styrofoam cake dummy. In this class, we will dance to a variety of music. Pop, Contemporary, Latin & Country, all of which share a common beat. Listening to the beat of the music builds listening skills and rhythm. Anyone who has patience and enthusiasm can learn to play piano. You will learn to read music and play at your own pace, while explanations and illustrations make it easy to learn the basic notes and chord patterns used for arranging songs. Artists are drawn to the physical, visual, and symbolic nature of their materials. We will use both figurative and abstract imagery to explore developing a personal visual language and style. With scissors, individuals will learn how to carve and shape paper in ways that add to the illusion of three dimension. Color is the heart of the emotional state, therefore, it influences actions; we will explore its possibilities and power. We will be working with paper, photos, fabric, leaves, magazines, and newspapers and fusing them with paint, glue, thread or tape.
