ADULT CPR WITH AED : Section 1
Sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death among adults in the United States. This course teaches the newest Red Cross guidelines for performing CPR. The Automated External Defibrillator will be used in class. Students will learn the skills needed to effectively respond in a situation when a heart stops beating. *ARC certification will be given upon successful completion of course and ARC required exam, which is an additional $26. CALLIGRAPHY : Section 1
Students will learn various calligraphy styles. Each attainable style will be introduced in an historical context and in illustrated demonstrations. We will learn how to use the tools of calligraphy and practice the styles and techniques. Following demonstrations by the instructor, you will copy alphabets and devise contemporary applications for your newfound skill to create personal pieces that relate to any goal you have in mind. Please bring a Fineliner Calligraphy Marker Micro Pen for use during the class. COLLEGE BOARD SAT REVIEW PROGRAM : Section 1
This course is designed for students who wish to raise their S.A.T. scores. Emphasis will be placed on the techniques, review and practice of actual S.A.T. tests. The course offered in the Fall Semester will prepare students for the 11/02/19 exam and the course offered in the Spring Semester will prepare students for the 5/02/20 exam. Register early! MINIMUM ENROLLMENT: 8 STUDENTS- If the minimum enrollment is not met, you will be notified by phone 2 weeks before the start date of cancellation. Digital Photographs- Taking Control of your Digital Camera and Photos : Section 1
This class will cover the basic concepts and armatures of taking exceptional photographs, including aesthetic principles such as composition, space, exposure, lighting and color, format and resolution. We will also delve into Photoshop and the alteration and manipulation of our new photographs as well as the abilities to revive older images for posterity. Student assistants, who have a strong grasp on this digital medium, will join the class and assist our learners in this process. Through this partnership, they will offer their insight and experience into the entire process. This will be a wonderful way to not only ease and profit from this learning curve, but also introduce a higher level of interaction, instruction and lesson dissemination. The only requirement is a digital camera or printed/digital photographs and a willingness to explore. FONDANT 101 HOLIDAY CAKE : Section 1
Don’t miss this opportunity to make a simple, Holiday themed, fondant covered cake. What you will need: one fully iced layer cake (6” or 8” round), a rolling pin, non-stick mat, 2 lbs. of fondant and your PATIENCE. No time to prepare a cake, no problem……. call a local bakery and order a plain iced cake or purchase a Styrofoam cake dummy. Other tools that will be helpful are: fondant smoother; pizza wheel, nonstick mat, vegetable shortening (if working with a cake dummy only). **Instructor will supply cake boards, boxes and extra fondant tools for those who need them. Anyone who has patience and enthusiasm can learn to play piano. You will learn to read music and play at your own pace, while explanations and illustrations make it easy to learn the basic notes and chord patterns used for arranging songs. You can begin to play familiar songs from the first lesson. As you progress through lesson after lesson, you will develop your keyboard skills, discover a true understanding of the piano and learn the various ways a song can be played by using different arrangements. This class will allow participants to maintain and improve on a variety of groundstrokes, smashes, and lobs during informal games. Participants must be able to serve, dink and volley with some consistency. Comfortable attire and sneakers are required. Please bring a paddle with you. Come and enjoy the benefits of Pilates, which focuses on proper alignment, breathing, joint release and complete range of motion. Pilates brings harmony and balance to the body. Sprinkle’s make everyone happy! Everyone will make their own Instagram worthy sprinkle cake in any colors they choose. So much fun! What you need to bring: 2 or 3 round layers of cake (any flavor) Size should be either 6” or 8” Enough Icing to cover and fill your cakes. A moderate non-contact introduction to the hottest, most efficient way to burn fat, tone and strengthen your muscles. This class infuses non-impact kickboxing, PLYOMETRICS(all modifications are taught), and other ways to keep your heart rate up and burn that fat! You’ll have fun and relieve stress at the same time.
