Anne DiPrima

Anne started her career in Bethpage in 1970 and she remained dedicated to her craft until her retirement in 2012.  She coached several sports at BHS and JFK including Volleyball, Softball, Basketball and Field Hockey.  She served as Athletic Coordinator for JFK for 27 years.  She amassed 535 victories in her volleyball coaching career and 389 victories in softball.  Her teams captured County Championships in 1985, 1986 and 1987 as well as numerous County and Conference Championships and multiple Sportsmanship Awards.  In addition to being named County Coach of the Year seventeen different times, Anne received national coaching honors on three different occasions.  She was a pioneer in girls’ athletics and pushed for equity long before it was mandated by Title IX.  In 1973 she made a presentation to the Bethpage Board of Education asking for funding for girls’ sports at JFK which they agreed with and that started a great tradition of a great sports program.  For these efforts she received the Hofstra University Award for Outstanding Contribution to Girls and Women in Sports.  She received the New York State Senate Liberty Award in 2007 in recognition of her role in saving the life of one of her players during a serious health incident.  This is not the first Hall of Fame to induct Anne; she is a member of the Farmingdale HS, Adelphi University, Metro Long Island American Softball Hall of Fames.  Anne continues to coach volleyball and softball at Bethpage High School.
