Ed Mangano

Ed graduated from BHS in 1980.  He and his family are still very involved in BHS traditions like the Italian Feast and Relay for Life.  Ed graduated Hofstra University and Hofstra Law School.  He was elected a Nassau County Legislator in 1995 and served for seven terms.  As County Legislator, Ed was deeply involved in redevelopment of the former Grumman Corp. property in Bethpage.  In 2009, he was elected Nassau County Executive and his inauguration was held at Bethpage High School.  As County Executive, Ed has worked to cut taxes, root out wasteful spending, create thousands of new jobs, and redevelop the Nassau Hub.  Ed recently selected Forest City Ratner Companies to transform the aging Nassau Coliseum into an exciting entertainment and sports destination.  He has also been instrumental in keeping the Empire State Games for the Physically Challenged alive after having faced State budget cuts.  Ed provided leadership amid the terrible impact inflicted on residents by Hurricane Sandy in 2012 and has stood up to FEMA for victims still seeking assistance.  At home, Ed is surrounded by three other BHS Golden Eagles - his wife Linda, and sons Sal and Alex.
