Steve Schanwald

Steve Schanwald graduated BHS in 1973.  He played baseball under Coach Jim Harrington and was on the first soccer team at BHS.  Steve was Sports Editor for the 1973 Yearbook. He went on to study at the University of Maryland.  From there he went on to his first job as the Director of Sports Marketing at the U.S. Air Force Academy and then on to working for the Pittsburgh Pirates organization.  In 1981 he landed a job as Assistant Vice President of Marketing for the Chicago White Sox.  In 1987 he joined the Chicago Bulls where he is currently the Executive Vice President for Business Operations.  It was an exhilarating time for the Bulls- wiinng six championships in eight seasons and Steve worked with Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Phil Jackson.  The Bulls had an incredible run of 610 consecutive sellouts and they continue to field a championship caliber team.

Steve is also President of CharitaBulls, which has raised tens of millions of dollars for a variety of worthy causes. He has served as a Member of the NBA’s Marketing Advisory Board, sits on the board of the James Jordan Boys & Girls Club.  Last year he was appointed Vice Chair of the Chicago Sports Commission.  He has been a guest lecturer at the University of Chicago Business School, Kellogg Graduate School of Business, the Notre Dame Business School and Bethpage High School.
